Dear USAAEM Member,

Nominations are now being accepted for the Uniformed Services Chapter (USAAEM) board of directors. These positions give interested individuals the opportunity to become involved with the leadership and development of USAAEM. Formed in late 2005, USAAEM has rapidly grown into one of the largest chapters in AAEM. We will continue to develop and grow with the help of strong leadership from you, our dedicated members.

This is an excellent opportunity for military emergency physicians, residents and medical students interested in emergency medicine to gain valuable leadership experience and help take USAAEM to the next level. All candidates for a position on the board of directors should plan on participating in regular conference calls which last approximately one hour (held at least once each quarter). One in-person board meeting will be scheduled at the annual AAEM Scientific Assembly. Board members should plan on being actively involved on a regular basis and should be highly motivated towards the development of this section.

Please review the list of positions below and submit a nomination application by the April 11, 2012, deadline. Self-nominations are allowed and encouraged. Only full voting USAAEM members are allowed to vote and run for the executive committee positions of president, vice president and secretary/treasurer, and any at large board of director positions. Only resident members are allowed to vote and run for the resident representative position. Only medical student members are allowed to vote and run for the medical student representative position. All USAAEM members may nominate members for any board position.

The following positions are open for nominations. A brief description of duties is provided for each position.

Executive Committee (Two-Year Term):

  • President - Responsible for guidance of the chapter and leading the USAAEM board of directors.
  • Vice President - Assists the president in guiding the chapter and leading the board of directors.
  • Secretary-Treasurer - Addresses the finances and maintains the budget.

Resident and Student Representatives (One-Year Term)

  • Resident Representative - Addresses resident issues to the board of directors.
  • Student Representative - Addresses medical student issues to the board of directors.

The nomination deadline for the USAAEM board of directors is April 11, 2012.

Voting for positions will take place by online ballot from May 9-May 30, 2012. Please update your email address on file with AAEM if it has changed or was not provided when joining as a member.

The newly elected USAAEM board of directors will take their posts on June 11, 2012.

All candidates must submit the online nomination form found at the link below
http://www.usaaem.org/secure/elections/2012/nominations/nomination_form.php.

Candidate statements are submitted online and will be posted on the website. You may include a digital photo for the website (optional).

Please contact the AAEM office at info@aaem.org if you have any questions about the election process. Please contact the current board member of the position you are interested in with any specific questions pertaining to a specific position (email addresses available on www.usaaem.org).
